The key research areas of the department cover:
- durability and efficiency improvement of road vehicles, fundamental research on crawler and rail-stepping running equipment of heavy earthmoving machinery;
- development and scientific substantiation of continuous earthmoving machinery structures for speedy non-lifting overhaul of pipelines: alternative development of working equipment for single bucket hydraulically operated excavators for digging soil under pipelines while repairing them and for soil compaction under them;
- selection of and rationale for technical decisions on determining rational types, basic parameters, unification possibilities of trench machine working equipment for building military fortifications and munition shelters.
