Ukrainian National Meeting with Experts on the TEMPUS CERES Centers of Excellence for Young Researchers Project
National Transport University hosted Ukrainian National Meeting with Project Experts within the framework of the 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHS «CERES» Centers of Excellence for Young Researchers from 16 to 18 October 2017.
The round table gathered together the representatives from different countries and universities: Slovakia ( Zilina University), Germany (Padeborn University), Ukraine (National Transport University, Zaporizhzhya National Technical University, National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, Radium Research and Production Company ). Rector of National Transport University Dmytrychenko M. F., First Vice-Rector for Research Dmytriev M. M. and project coordinators sincerely greeted the guests.
The participants reported on the work carried out during the period under review, presented reports and discussed functioning and use of the CERES portal for target groups of young researchers, university lecturers and R&D enterprises. They were also engaged in a vivid discussion of the further development of the CERES Journal and the site for young researchers. All project partners commended the work done and emphasized the need for further cooperation. The external experts participated actively in the meeting aimed at investigating the work performed and reports on the results achieved as well as providing an independent performance assessment of the Ukrainian CERES program team.
The second day of the meeting began with an excursion to Brovary Road Construction Department №50 which is an industrial partner of NTU. The guests were able to see the technological process of repairing highway R-03, North-Eastern bypass of Kyiv. Project participants also had a great opportunity to witness the birth of a new highway in details from preparatory work (making marks using a tachometer) to construction machinery at work. Modern road construction machines were installing layers of road surfacing and sealing them in accordance with all norms and regulations. The representatives from Brovary Road Construction Department №50 stressed the importance of involving young people in scientific research, which will be the impetus for the introduction of innovative technologies at every stage of the production process of their company. After that project members returned to NTU and continued the working meeting.
In total, 16 CERES project participants, 8 experts, 3 FKTBUM project members and 3 EcoBRU project representatives submitted their reports and took stock of their successful scientific cooperation.
