Biography
Oleksandr Melnychenko was born in Kyiv on September 25, 1966.
He finished Kyiv secondary school № 39. From 1983 to 1984, he studied at technical school №14 for a qualification of a milling-machine operator. After graduation he worked as a milling-machine operator at Arsenal plant. From 1984 to 1986, he did military service in frontier troops.
Since 1986, he has been working at Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute, where he got higher education and a qualification of an engineer and worked as a lab technician, a methodologist, Assistant Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor.
In 2000, he defended his Candidate of Science dissertation and was appointed Scientific Secretary of the University Academic Council. Since that time, he has been Secretary of the Editorial Board of the NTU Visnyk journal.
Since 2001, Oleksandr Melnychenko has been Adviser to the Transport Academy of Ukraine and Chairman of the NTU Scientific Board of students, post graduates and young scientists.
In 2001, he won the third prize in the first Intellectual Potential of Young Scientists for the City of Kiev competition of young scientists’ research projects.
In 2002, he was given the rank of Associate Professor and appointed Scientific Secretary of the Specialized Academic Council D. 26.059.01 in specialties: 05.13.22, 05.13.06.
In 2004, he got a university degree in law.
In 2005, Oleksandr Melnychenko received Certificate of Acknowledgement from Kyiv City Mayor for active participation in Intellectual Potential of Young Scientists for the City of Kiev annual competition of research projects.
In 2006, he was awarded Excellence in Education of Ukraine Lapel Badge.
In 2007, he received MIA of Ukraine Lapel Badge of the Second Degree for impeccable service in the State Traffic Inspectorate
In 2009, Oleksandr Melnychenko received Ministry of Internal Affairs Merit Badge of the Second Degree for cooperation with State Traffic Inspectorate administrative units.
Since 2012, he has been Corresponding Member of the Transport Academy of Ukraine
In 2013, he was granted the rank of Professor.
Oleksandr Melnychenko is engaged in research and academic work. He has about 90 academic publications. He co-authored the manual ‘Road Transport Traffic Safety’ (2002), as well as the following manuals: ‘Hazardous Cargo Transportation’ (2005); ‘Fundamentals of the Theory of Systems and Systems Analysis’ (2005); ‘Road Transport Management’ (2006); ‘Systems Analysis and Logistics’ (2008); ‘General Course on Transport’ (2012) etc. In 2001, his monograph ‘Methods, Models and Algorithms of Freight Transportation Management in the Transport Sector’ was published.
His key research interests include the transport sector of Ukraine and traffic safety.
